The City of South Bend Department of Community Investment will have a public meeting to present the grant narrative entitled “Western Avenue Transformation District” for submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). The grant narrative addresses the redevelopment and affordable housing projects with a focus on the Rabbi Shulman apartments. The narrative details the importance of affordable housing in South Bend and the positive impact redevelopment will have on residents. Public Comment Period:
Public comment will be open between September 30, 2024 through October 15, 2024. During this time, we encourage community members to share their thoughts, insights, and suggestions regarding the proposed plan. Comments can be submitted via the survey below.

Please join us for community feedback about the grant narrative for HUD funding on Wednesday, October 9thfrom 6 – 8 pm at the Technology Resource Center (1165 Franklin St. #100 South Bend, IN 46601). You may also submit feedback via the survey below.

We appreciate all public comments received and are incorporating them into our HUD PRO application. Specifically, we are focusing on how to incorporate dedicated senior housing and outreaching to seniors as part of the overall project.
